Meeting Tim Brown from Raw Materials Studio in 1996 was the stepping stone from The Gambia to London. We built up a good relationship with Tim, often coming back to The Gambia to study and perform. My association with Raw Materials Studios enabled me to come to England and to tour with my band Afro Manding.
Performing, Touring and Teaching Drums
As well as performing in many venues, including the London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, I worked for Raw Materials and ran drumming classes, drum making workshops, teaching new drum techniques, solo drums and rhythm
Afro Manding were reunited in 2005, and performed at the Lincolnshire Show, for DAAT, which received very positive feedback. In 1997 I met my current band Zubop and did some recording with them. ZubopGambia was then formed. Since then we have toured extensively around the UK including venues such as Ronnie Scotts in London and continue to tour the UK.

Recordings and Drum Workshops
I have recorded CDs with ZubopGambia, Afro Manding and with Raw Material Studios as a session drummer. I have recorded with Oladum from Brazil, Tari from South Africa, and many bands from around the world.
Since 2001 I have taught drumming in schools around the county for Soundlincs and the NOF Project/Cfbt. I also run drumming workshops independently around the UK.
Musical Experiences
In 2006, my wife and I spent nearly 4 months in The Gambia, where we immersed ourselves in Gambian culture and was able to further developed my ideas. I worked with many respected Gambian artists such as South (Djembe), Mbazio (Jung Jung/Djembe), the Holy Family Band, Roofless and also with GAMMA, the Gambian Musicians Association. In 2007 I featured with Multi-cultural Roots-Rhythm Experience, an African percussion band.
