I have been a professional drummer for 16 years, as well as teaching and performing drums in the U.K. and in The Gambia playing all of the traditional African Drums, including the Talking Drum. My main drum being the Djembe. (Please see our Video Profile)
Drum Workshops, Making Drums & Tuition
Following a grant award from the Creative Solution Initiative for Lincolnshire and surrounding areas I am now offering independent drum/percussion workshops and developing rhythms with students of all ages and standards, from beginners to professional drummers. There may also be the possibility of facilitating drum camps both here in the UK and in The Gambia.
We can also provide drum-making workshops, drum tuning, drum repairs and performances. Ask us about the hiring and selling of our drums too.
The Benefits of Drumming
Well, firstly IT’S GREAT FUN! But drumming is beneficial for many reasons, and to many diverse members of the community, children or adults and those who wish to become professional percussionists or drummers themselves, plus those who want an insight into afro drum music and it’s culture.
Drum workshops are also a means of team building, raising self-esteem, & developing cultural awareness-using traditional African stories to blend and bind the experience.
